All right, so I have a general plan of what I wanted to discuss, consider, research and reflect on. I thought I should probably have some definite goals and topics that I wanted to show through this little operation that I am currently running.
All right, first and foremost, I should probably do a bit of a study of what a math classroom looks like currently, or the ones that I have a.) experienced and b.) taught in. So far, they have been very similar. It seems to be a trend, although I will do some research into this. Anyways, this will be labelled as 'classrooms today'.
I also will be researching what other people say about thinking about math as a language. This will be entitled 'research'.
I also have plans to try and interview people on how they see math, how they learnt it, how they deal with it. I'd like to talk to people about how they would feel about math if I told them to think about it as merely a language. This question particularly would be important to people who do not consider themselves strong mathematicians but perhaps strong English people or writers. This may be entitled 'interviews'.
I'd like to do a little bit of math theory and try dealing with the math as a language. How would I go about explaining those concepts? This will mostly likely be entitled 'theory'.
I already have my favourite part - random examples. Right now they include (mostly) M.C. Escher. Mostly I'd like to try and show how math can explain certain aspects of our lives, from art to architecture. Fun stuff!
I also would like to show some examples in every day life. Random labels.
Phew! This is going to be a busy...5 weeks?! Oh boy...
